About Us

Evergreen Certified, LLC is a building industry service provider that provides third-party verification and green building support services to the most innovative developers and home builders in the Puget Sound region. We offer green building services for residential projects, specializing in certifications including Built Green, HERS, PHIUS+, Energy Star, and NGBS. We also offer testing, analysis, and consulting services.


We are proud to be the leading certifier for residential new construction in the greater Seattle area. Our team is committed to ​​making green construction easy to understand, build, and sell. We focus on practical ways to enable more builders to develop healthy, efficient, and responsibly-built homes. Builders have many priorities and goals to balance. Our team helps them navigate the complexity of green building, step-by-step, so sustainability goals don’t get dropped. We remove barriers that prevent residential home builders from adopting more sustainable practices. Our idea of success is leading our clients, including the ‘sustainability skeptics’, to a place of comfort and enthusiasm about green building.

Work Environment

Evergreen Certified has two office buildings, one in Seattle and the other in Tacoma. That being said, our company is currently in a hybrid mode. Most days our team works from home, however we do go into the office one day a week. We also do in-person site visits for projects and clients.

What to expect

The Project Associate is a new role at Evergreen Certified. This position will report directly to our Senior Project Associate while managing and supporting 2-3 team members. Our team is unique in that we all perform similar tasks and work on similar projects with different levels of knowledge pertaining to building science. Part of this role will focus on helping our junior verifiers gain more experience, expertise, and confidence with green building science. 

We perform a very niche service, and establishing long term relationships with all stakeholders is an essential aspect of what we do. This position requires leveraging a knowledge of green building and relationship skills to mentor employees and guide developers and builders in an effort to develop healthy, efficient, and responsibly-built homes.

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • Project planning and management

  • Scheduling and facilitating client meetings 

  • Communication and expectation-setting with clients

  • Responding to client questions related to building science and green building certifications 

  • Performing site visits, on-site testing

  • Conducting building performance testing and analysis (blower doors, ventilation flow rate test, etc.)

  • Verification of Built Green certification requirements 

  • Going through green building certifications checklists for projects

  • Energy modeling

  • Producing final verification reports

Goals and objectives

In 3 months:

  • Able to manage 20 clients and their projects (1-15 job sites)

  • Have a good understanding of the certification process with minimal supervision

In 6 months:

  • Able to manage 50 clients and their projects 

  • Able to schedule, prepare for, and confidently facilitate 10 to 15 in-person meetings per month

  • Confidence in the role has grown and able to work independently

In 12 months:

  • Manage and act as the point of contact on 75-100 builder accounts 

  • Be fully versed in all our services 

  • Obtain credentials such as HERS, Phius Verifier/Rater, and Energy Star Rater if they do not already have them

  • Be actively managing/helping other employees

Project Associate

Location: Seattle, WA — Hybrid (4 days remote, 1 day in office each week)

Position Type: Full-time

Experience: Mid-level (2-5 years)

Pay range: $31-$36 per hour

Target start date: ASAP

Who we’re looking for

Evergreen Certified is looking to hire a long-term employee who is passionate about green building and excited to join a small, collaborative team. The ideal candidate will be a continuous learner, a teacher at heart, and comfortable working autonomously. We are searching for someone who shares our commitment to creating a more sustainable built environment.

Skills and knowledge

  • 2+ years of green building industry experience 

  • HERS Rater Certification

  • Experience working on Energy Star projects

  • Experience working on Phius+ projects

  • Ability to teach, train, and mentor others

  • Experience reading and interpreting building plans and specifications

  • Familiarity with Washington State Energy Code, IECC, IBC, zoning & land use codes

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs a distance of at least 50 feet

  • Ability to work outdoors in an unconditioned environment through all seasons

  • Ability to alternately sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull repeatedly throughout the workday

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance

  • Willingness to use personal vehicle for client meetings and site visits (all business mileage paid in accordance with IRS guidelines)
