Our Story
We have often found ourselves in conversations with coworkers at all levels who were feeling disconnected and undervalued. The fact that 70% of people are miserable at work breaks our hearts. How will we ever address the massive environmental and social challenges we face - not to mention the mental health crisis - if we don't stop wasting so much human potential?
With more than 25 years of combined management and hiring experience, we are driven by a desire to align our careers with our values. We met at Bainbridge Graduate Institute in 2014 while earning our MBA degrees in Sustainable Business & Systems. After launching & selling her first start-up, Conscious Company Media, Maren knew she wanted her next company to help people find meaningful work so they, too, could make a positive difference. And after more than 10 years in corporate finance, Cecilia realized that she was ready for a change and wanted to explore her love of mentoring people and helping them find their professional path. We reconnected in 2020 and teamed up to pursue a shared vision for a better way to hire.
We want to live in a world where people love what they do, are proud of their contributions, and treated with kindness and dignity at work. We also want to support businesses that are striving to be more diverse and inclusive, and committed to creating better global outcomes for their stakeholders. That's why we’re building Handprint. So much of what’s going wrong within companies can be solved by fostering healthy work relationships from the start. On average, people spend ⅓ of their lives at work, and we want to connect them with opportunities to make the most of that time - both for their own well-being, as well as that of society and the planet at large.
